Sunset from Oso Peak, Big Bend Ranch 3
Oso Mountain, BBRSP
The last light of this October evening in Big Bend Ranch State Park created some dramatic colors. The sky turned shades of purple and orange, and the landscape seemed to glow in purple hues. This west Texas image was taken near the summit of Oso Peak, the highest point in Big Bend Ranch at 5,135 feet. After 30 miles of dirt road, pluse a few more miles of high-clearance, 4WD road, a trek across cacti and scub, then a 1000-foot vertical scramble over more thorns and rocks - all of this will reward the most persistent hikers with an amazing view of the rugged landscape in all directions.
