Skyfire over the Solitario 1
Fresno Canyon, Big Bend Ranch State Park
On a morning that started with a 4am wakeup in Big Bend Ranch State Park, the first light of day 3 hours later brought one of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen and photographed. After a bumpy ride down a dirt road and a 2.5 mile walk in the dark and rain, I arrived at the edge of Fresno Canyon. This vast expanse offers unparalled views of the Solitario, a huge uplift on the eastern side of Big Bend Ranch. With rocks and cacti as my foreground - just feet away from a precipitous drop, this photograph shows the Solitario at sunrise. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
