Saint Mary's Catholic Church 1 - Praha
St. Mary's Church of the Assumption is one of the famous Painted Churches of Texas. Found in Fayette County east of the Hill Country, this parish was bulit in 1895 in Praha, Texas.
Legend has it that a man climbed the 130-foot steeple to attach a cross. His payment? A keg of beer. I imagine the Czech settlers had a good celebration after that momentous occassion. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
