Saint Cyril and Methodius Church 2 - Dubina
The light blue ceiling of Dubina’s Saint Cyril and Methodius Church is sprinkled with stars, and oak leaves and twisting vines line the columns of this beautiful sanctuary. As one of the painted churches in central Texas, this parish still serves its community today, more than 150 years after the first Czech-Moravian settlers spent a long and cold, windy and sleet-filled first night under an oak grove not far from here. They survived the night, and although some chose to continue onto Iowa, several settled here, gave thanks to God, and started a new life. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
