Rain Lily Hummingbird 1
Texas Hill Country
In Texas, rain lilies are rare - only appearing after a good rain. They grow quickly and don't last long. After unprecedented rains in August, rain lilies filled our property. One particular hummingbird seemed to be interested in these white and pink petaled Texas wildflowers. I set up a tripod, used manual focus on the flowers, and a remote to set off the shutter. I was not sure how the images would turn out with the light cascading through trees behind me, but it turned out ok. After more than several attempts, this was my favorite photograph.
