Mesa de Anguila, Big Bend National Park
The view from Mesa de Anguila overlooking the Rio Grande is both amazing and remote. This portion of Big Bend National Park sees relatively few adventurers (we never saw another person). Similar to Horseshoe Bend in Arizona, this bend in the Rio Grande’s trek eastward makes a horseshoe shape. Just a little further downstream, the water makes its way into Santa Elena Canyon. This wide-angle image was taken on an evening where a colorful sky was questionable. Still, for a few brief moments, the clouds did show some color, and at one point seemed to glow orange just above the horizon. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
