Mesa de Anguila Evening Pano, Big Bend 307-2
Mesa de Anguila, Big Bend National Park
The hike to reach this location requires an uphill ascent to the top of Mesa de Anguila, and then another quarter mile or so of off-trail hiking down to a cliff. From this perch, the Rio Grande and the rugged mountains of the Sierra Ponce are visible below and in the distance. This portion of Big Bend National Park is rarely visited. The Mesa de Anguila trail heads south out of Lajitas, far from the park entrance. But the landscape is incredible and the solitude tangible.
