Mesa de Anguila, Big Bend National Park 307-1
Mesa de Anguila, Big Bend National Park
From a cliff high above the Rio Grande, the Mesa de Anguila offers amazing views in all directions. After crossing a saddle atop the mesa on a hike up from the town of Lajitas, I found myself gazing across this remote and virtually untouched and seldom-visited landscape of Big Bend National Park. The sun was setting in the west (left) and through an opening in the horizon, light turned the low clouds orange for about two minutes, then was gone. Across the river are the mountains and cliffs of Mexico that make up the Sierra Ponce. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
