Kirkjufell Mountain on a Summer Night 1
The Kirkjufellsá River flows down from a volcano named Helgrindur, past Kirkjufell Mountain, and into Grundarfjörður Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Kirkjufell Mountain was once called Sukkertoppen (Sugar Top) by Danish sailors who frequented the area, but the name didn't last. This area is one of the most photographed in Iceland, and for good reason. The views, especially under the midnight sun, are unforgettable. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
