Hallgrímskirkja under the Midnight Sun 7
Hallgrímskirkja is the center of Reykjavik and rises 244' into the Icelandic sky. This photograph was taken in July at around 23:50 (11:50pm) as the night sky is not so dark on these endless summer days.
In the foreground is a statue of Leifur Eiríksson (Leif) that was donated to Iceland by the US in tribute to the 1000 year anniversary of Alþingi, the parliament of Iceland. Leifur Eiríksson lived from 970-1020 and is generally regarded as the first European to set foot in the Americas. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
