Bluebonnet Glory, Big Bend National Park 123-2
One of my favorite places in Big Bend to photograph bluebonnets is the area surrounding Cerro Castellan. The landscape seems harsh, but when the fall and winter rains germinate the bluebonnets seeds, the rock and and rugged, prickly plants give way to delicate blue of the Chisos Bluebonnets. The spring of 2019 was perhaps the best bluebonnet bloom in our lifetime, and the blue shades coverd the hills and washes of the Chihuahuan Desert. Seen here on a cold spring sunrise, the sky seemed to light up above a never ending swath of bluebonnets. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
