Milky Way over Rocky Mountain National Park 1
Rocky Mountain National Park
Taken a little after sunset, this Colorado image shows the Milky Way as it rises over the Rocky Mountains. Facing south, I shot the foreground of this night sky photograph while there was still a little light remaining - just enough to give definition to the field of wildflowers that filled the rocky slopes. The Milky Way was taken later using an astro-tracker, a device that tracks the heavens as the stars scroll across the sky, thus allowing a longer, more crisp exposure. The two images were later blended together to show what I saw on that amazing July evening. Photo © copyright by Rob Greebon.
